James Waddington
I work with a range of private clients, including business owners, families and trusts in structuring, preserving and growing wealth.
Clients may have accrued wealth through excess earnings, or as a result of a windfall event such as the sale of a business or the receipt of an inheritance - I work alongside them to build a bespoke strategy, driven by their wider objectives and aspirations. I advise on a number of planning areas, including:
• Investment structuring
• Tax-efficient investing
• Succession/Inheritance tax planning
• Pension planning
• Specialist cash management
• Clients with International complexity
• Working in conjunction with specialists in planning on divorce
I often work alongside clients’ other professional advisers, including solicitors and accountants, ensuring a cohesive approach across an overall strategy which can often be structured across multiple entities and tax wrappers.
I have been named on the shortlist for Financial Advisory Individual of the Year at the Citywealth Future Leaders awards and am a graduate of the University of Exeter.

What drives me?
I particularly enjoy working with clients on intergenerational wealth transfers, this can often involve engaging with multiple generations of a family and asking “What is this for?” when planning for the future and deciding how capital should be structured and deployed.
I feel immensely privileged to be closely involved in significant life events for a lot of clients, this ranges from working alongside business owners leading up to and after an exit event to guiding families through planning for the next generation. In each instance, I offer a highly personalised, service-driven approach, acting with impartiality as a trusted, independent adviser.
When away from the office, I enjoy being near the ocean, sailing and surfing. I am also a great lover of music and good food!
